Educating through The Golden Rule

Living in Harmony with Our Precious Planet, Our Animal Companions and All Life

The Golden Rule is a saying for leading one’s life by treating others as you would like them to treat you. It suggests that other people should be treated fairly and with respect
For Denise Scotto, it extends to our beautiful planet and all forms of life. It’s the universal heart of most faith-based traditions and found in different cultures across the world. It’s called the ‘Golden’ Rule because there is value in having this kind of respect and caring attitude for one another and for humanity as a civilization.

Through her functions and her various actions over several decades, we will see with Denise Scotto, that this Golden Rule is at work everywhere in the world and that a great movement of consciousness is rising on our beautiful planet.

Yogi, Founder of the Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir (SAYM).

Born in a small remote village in the Himalayas, he spent many months in the mountains, alone with the cows, from the age of 7, despite the tigers, leopards and incessant rain in the summer. At the age of 12, he decides to leave everything: his family, his village, his mountains and his country. He left on foot, without saying anything, with a few young men to reach India. There, he thinks that he can earn money. He wants to help his parents and his family. From one adventure to another, he became a soldier at the age of 12 and a half, then a mendicant monk at 15 and a yogi at 21.

Returning to his native country after 20 years, he founded the SAYM and a first ashram-school. The community welcomes children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in Nepal, free of charge, from kindergarten to university and beyond. It develops a holistic education based on integral yoga, the joy of serving and working for others, the community and the world.

Each child, at his or her own pace, discovers little by little what motivates him or her and what he or she wishes to dedicate his or her life to.

A Lifetime of Discovering Integral Education inspired by The Mother

“Delivered to myself and to the Divine since my childhood, my life has been an uninterrupted series of trials, experiences and various initiations, sometimes extreme, sometimes extraordinary and magical, which have gradually forged this incredible adventure of an educational ashram essentially made up of children and young people, a true school of Joy and Self-giving.”

Since March 2020, income is not at all what it was at the time of this video. During the many, many months of confinement in Nepal, the markets were closed. The Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir had no resources left. In the last two years, foreign visitors deserted Nepal, many wealthy families left the country or stopped buying organic products.
Two years later, the ashram’s income is less than half of what it was, and donations have become vital to continue caring for the children. Despite all this, in the midst of all these difficulties, it is one of the most joyful places I have ever encountered in my life.

Mikaël Zayat – Quebec

Mikaël Zayat

Québec

Born in Cairo, Egypt, Mikaël has been living in Quebec for over 40 years. His roots have led him to carry the tradition of oils in connection with an integral vision of health. In Ancient Egypt, health was considered the result of a balance between body, soul and spirit.

The first part of his life in Quebec was spent in the educational system, from university studies to teaching and accompanying adolescents in difficulty. At the age of 35, he decided to dedicate himself to what makes him vibrate deeply: oils, aromatic essences and health.

Theology, education, philosophy, music, poetry, pregnancy and childbirth… Mikaël shares his love for Life and its multiple expressions… from the art of language and sounds to the art of questioning, all with one goal in mind: to rediscover meaning, to embody one’s Essence. He invites us to live in peace with each of our relationships, to question our reference points, to cultivate our inner garden and to play our part in order to participate harmoniously in the great Symphony of Life…

Mikaël Zayat, Alchemist by Essence, has been producing essences and creating numerous aromatic synergies since 1985. He has established himself as one of the pioneers of integral aromatherapy in North America and is recognized throughout the world as an expert in promoting body-soul-spirit balance.

When plants and their essences teach life and teach us to know ourselves better

Is water alive? Is wood alive?

In a drop of water, there are a billion billion H20 molecules (1,000,000,000,000,000,000).
This is unimaginable! Incredible!
This invites us to marvel at the richness of nature and its wonderful complexity. In our little galaxy, there are billions of suns… and billions of galaxies in the universe.
It is phenomenal! There are so many possible wonders in life.
Nature, plants and their essences invite us to wonder and it is essential that education offers all children this capacity to wonder, to interact in a positive way with nature, to connect to the essential, to joy, to Life… and thus to develop a positive outlook to transform our environment and the world of tomorrow.
